What Models/Types of portable external solar suitcases are people buying/recommending to connect to their external solar ports?
I will be picking up my new 21C in March. I'm a bit foggy on this one, but I believe I asked the above question to one of the Configuration Specialists and they said they don't recommend a particular brand or type.
FYI: I already have the maximum of two roof mounted solar panels & four lithium batteries, but I want to boondock longer.
Hi Alan, great question! Your solar suitcase should not have a charge controller installed since we wire the solar port to the charge controller that was installed in your unit. Currently, we use the ZAMP connector, please ensure that the solar suitcase is compatible or consider purchasing an adapter. Although we don't recommend a particular brand, we do recommend that you purchase a suitcase that is rated 24V so not to de-rate the input feed of the roof mounted panel(s). Feel free to give us a call if you wish to further elaborate. Thanks and we look forward to building your 21C! Kind regards, Samuel@Escape
Might want to give your setup a try out first. We have the 2 roof panels and 4-Li, 100ah batteries. Camped 100 days, 10K miles in the Rockies & Black Hills this summer. Most often batteries topped off by mid day. Had planned a portable panel but found we didn't need it
