Hi John, sorry for the delay responding to this. I needed to ask the engineering team for a reply to this and it took them a while to get back to me. Here's what they said....It's very tight in spots. To not hit the shell anywhere, don't insert a screw more than 1/2" into the deck plywood. If more holding power is needed, we recommend customers use anchor inserts with a bolt. The maximum insert length should be 13mm or approximately 1/2" length: https://www.ezlok.com/style/Hex-DriveCare should be taken not to drill beyond 1/2" depth, recommend to use a drill-stop collar.
