    Winterizing Solar Panels

    in Maintenance & Troubleshooting

This is in reference to the following answer you gave to another member: “Whenever there is a chance of the batteries freezing it is recommended to remove the batteries……..Once the batteries have been removed tape the solar connections with electrical tape to prevent them from touching.” So, where would the solar connections be in order to tape them? We have a 17B, with a mattress in the dining area, so would we need to get inside the cabinet under the mattress? Also, should we cover the solar panel when storing for the winter? We live in the Southern Sierra Mountains of CA, and can experience freezing temperatures

    Hello @CandC

The solar connections that need to be taped will be the connections that you remove from the batteries, both the negative and positive connections can be taped.
