As we consider the options of moving on from our current truck camper, we are looking forward to the information flow on this forum. Based on our current wants and needs, it looks like we are leaning towards the E5.0 or the E23 (when it becomes available) We own a GMC Sierra 3500 Duramax with a long box, extended cab and Single Rear Wheels.

Hi, We are waiting for our Escape 5.0. We don't currently have a truck to tow it. Any recommendations? Are all std half-ton trucks good choices or is a 3/4 ton better? I have heard some comments from owners that 3/4 ton trucks are bigger than needed.

    Thanks

We really considering the NE, but I would hit my head on the air conditioner and one of us had to crawl over the other to get out of bed.

So we went with a 5.0.

For some reason I cannot start my own post.

It does fine until I have to select an area to publish it and I will not let me select any area.

    CPAP anyone?

Hello! We are anticipating purchasing an Escape 19. We both have sleep apnea and have to use CPAP machines. I've been trying to think about where these machines will go on each side of the bed. Perhaps one can be placed on the kitchen counter if the hose reaches? What about the other side of the bed?

Does anyone with a 19 have this issue and if so how have you resolved the placement of the machines? We do not want a bigger trailer with counters one each side of the bed.

    Thanks

@kathydiggs This is very interesting to me. I too have a CPAP and have ordered the 21NE. In fact, we originally ordered the 5.0TA just because of the space next to the bed, but I decided to go with the 21NE instead because I did not want to loose the bed of my truck and pay for an expensive complicated hitch. But now I am pondering what to do with the CPAP. I have thought about putting it into the cabinet above too. But I would like an AC plug and DC plug up there to power the CPAP. I was planning on asking ETI if they had a solution to this problem that they have done for other customers. If not, I was thinking about the possibility of adding a shelf under the cabinet to put the CPAP on. But until I actually have the trailer in my possession, I am not sure what will actually work. This is a major issue since I must have this to live (not hyperbole). I also am hoping I could figure out how to convert the 12v DC to 24v DC to power the ResMed AirSense 10. I would like to go off grid with a solar package. My little CPAP battery I use now is good for one night. If anyone else on the forum has figured this all out, I would be very happy to hear about what they have done.

Joel, We did have Escape put an AC outlet up there as well during our build. We were off grid the first time he used the CPAP and he chose to use the Jackery instead of turning on the inverter to use the AC plug. I am sure if you asked they would also install a DC outlet up there as well as an AC outlet. I found that during our Build Sheet timeframe all I had to do was ask and was either told yes or no. Good luck!

We do have the full solar package as well.

@kathydiggs That is great to hear they accommodated you on the plug. I am nothing but impressed by ETI. It looks like if they put a DC plug up in or near the cabinet, then I can get the 12v converted to 24v with this gadget (see link below). That would solve my problem and I could go off grid with the solar package.

Hello! We are looking into buying an Escape 19. We also may have the opportunity to purchase a truck from a friend and want to know about user experience towing a fully loaded 19 with this vehicle. It's a 2009 Toyota Tacoma 4x4, SR5, V6, extended cab with tow package. Thanks.
