We are preparing for delivery of a 5.0 in October of 2022. One major option we desire is a 110 volt, ~9000 BTU mini-split that will have the external unit ( ~70 lbs) on the rear bumper and the air handler (~30 lbs) nested within the cabinet space above the table. I installed such a configuration on our 15' Parkliner trailer two years ago and we are very pleased with its (very quiet) performance.
Question 1. Will Escape offer a mini-split option in time for our build?
Question 2. How is Escape progressing with the engineering assessments of mini-splits? Have you installed any units and tested them?
Question 3. If not offered in time for our build, could you produce a 'mini-split ready' option that would configure the rear cabinet to accept an air handler?
Question 4. Assuming that Escape will not offer a mini-split in time for our build, what other issues should I be considering for our build to accommodate the after-purchase addition of a mini-split unit?
I would be pleased to serve as a test/trial case for Escape to further evaluate this option.

Future trends facing all travel trailer manufactures will be smaller & electric tow vehicles and climate change. This means that all travel trailers will need to become more streamlined for wind resistance as well as a greater range in unexpected temperature changes. Getting things off the roof is not only a design improvement for better tow stability and fuel economy, it improves internal headroom and quiets the cabin significantly. You are correct in the a mini split system heat pump is one answer. I've also been researching under carriage mounted units as well and am surprised at the limited choices. For Escape to prep such an install, they would need to know the electrical requirements of your specific units and pre-wire for it. Not a small task given the circuit breaker box changes that may be needed. Not add the internal cabinet where the inside unit would go, and of course not cut a hole in the roof. So you see this is not an easy question to answer. However, they should be thinking of streamlining for improved aerodynamics for expect pickup trucks to pull every trailer over 17 at $4.55/gal USD and rising.
Hmmmm. I have received no response in nearly two weeks. Can any members of this Community suggest why? I am new at this. --Tim
